You’d expect an island city to have plenty of activities to enjoy on the water – and you’d be right. Portsmouth’s water sports offer is as strong as it is varied. As well as sailing and rowing, there’s a wake park to test yourself against some jumps and obstacles, plus specialist centres where you can hire kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and plenty more besides. Also, Hayling Island is nearby, with its strong kite surfing heritage, as well as plenty of calm inlets in which to paddleboard or swim.
