Markets & Events
There’s little more authentic when it comes to food than the humble market. Only by talking to the people directly responsible for growing or rearing what’s headed for your plate can you get the truest feel of what goes into your food. It’s also your chance to get the freshest produce, support local businesses and even scope out a good deal or two.
Portsmouth’s food markets cover all bases, from artisan producers selling their hand-crafted products, to good old fashioned butchers whose entertainment value is as good as the produce they stock. In this section you’ll find dates and details for all the upcoming food markets across the city, as well as any special foodie events coming up. These will range from the biggest events welcoming producers from across the world right here to Portsmouth, to smaller-scale events focusing on what we have on our doorstep.
Regular markets
The listings below are for monthly or one-off foodie events. In addition the city also hosts regular markets for food, drink and a host of locally made homewares.
The Commercial Road Market runs every week in the city centre - on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 4.30pm. It offers street food, gifts, clothing, hardware, flowers and fresh produce.
Meanwhile, up on Cosham Precinct you'll find its weekly market taking place each Monday (except Bank Holidays), also between 9am and 4.30pm. There are plants, clothing, hardware and fresh produce to browse and buy.
Love Southsea Markets
Love Southsea Markets take place on Southsea's Palmerston Road on the first amd third weekend of each month. In December they run every weekend for the run-up to Christmas.
