Composite of crafts from the I Can See The Sea Workshops


I Can See The Sea hosts a series of workshops open to all ages and abilities in the Porters Lodge at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Workshops include Weaving and Macrame with Alice, Glass with Leanne, and Collage with Cut Up Club. Weave Workshop
Alice Hume invites you to a Weave Workshops - learn how to weave using a wooden frame lap loom. Students will learn how to make their own fabric, warp their own loom, finish and create their own woven wall-hanging or decorative fabric. The project will have a focus on texture, pattern and colour where all materials will be included. The workshop covers soumak, experimenting with 2-3 colours in one row and how to create shapes and tassels. Alice has won a platinum award with craft courses and has 107 five star reviews.

Coastal Relief Casting Workshop
Jo Butler of Sentimental Castings invites you to create your own unique coastal casts Transform beach combing finds into tactile 2D creations. Learn the detailed process of this craft; experiment and create, using clay, herculite plaster and a variety of paints to finish.

Introduction to Raffia Workshop
Mandie of Shack Out the Back invites you to enjoy a relaxing Friday afternoon, creating your own unique miniature raffia basket. This £40 fully inclusive session includes all materials, refreshments and tuition, along with enough material to take home and to either embellish your piece, or create another later.

Beginners Spoon Carving Workshop
This £60, four hour session, will give you time to create two of your own unique spoons using Hazel. Mandie will guide you through the process step-by-step. All materials/tools will be provided for you to use, and advice on finishing given. A reasonable degree of dexterity is helpful, although help will be available.

Travel Sketchbook and Journalling Workshop
Join a scrapbooking and daily journalling workshop with artist Gullu Kandrou. Discover the transformative power of slow, deliberate creation as you're guided through the enchanting world of mixed media styles and travel sketchbook creation.
