About
Please note, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, risk assessments have been undertaken and the decision has been made to cancel the Local Haunts bus tours for 2021. Further risk assessments will be undertaken in due course to (hopefully) get 'Alf’ back, safely, on the road for 2022.
Take a trip back in time and learn about the history, humour and hardships of Portsmouth, all from the comfort of Alf, the big, red, vintage London Routemaster bus. Once on board, one of the experienced and fully qualified tourist guides will show you aspects of the city you never knew existed.
Hear how Portsmouth grew from a small, fishing village to an important naval town and finally into today's multi-million pound waterside hub of tourism, commerce and industry. What better way to enjoy the sights and stories from days long gone, than from upstairs on Alf? Also, because he's a closed top bus, there are no insects to worry about in summer and wind and rain will present no problem to intrepid explorers.
The guided bus tours commence on Sunday 3rd June and run until Sunday 30th September, 2018. Tours take place Thursdays and Sundays at 2pm - whatever the weather!
Join on board Alf, at any of the Local Haunts bus stops.
The tour leaves at 1.30pm, from The Royal Marines Museum car park, then:
1.32pm - Beach Huts, near St. Georges Road
1.35pm - Canoe Lake (beach side)
1.40pm - The D-Day Story museum
1.42pm - Clarence Pier, Stand C
1.45pm - Close by The Hard Interchange, at the bus stop (shelter) adjacent to HMS Victory, Main Gate, where the guided tour will begin at 2.00pm.
The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours.
Adults £11.00
Seniors/Students £9.00
Child £7.00 (5-15 years must be accompanied by an adult, under 5's go free)
Family £34.00 (2 adults, up to 3 children)
Tickets are purchased on board Alf. A Local Haunts bus ticket gives you special discounts on some of the City's most popular attractions!
Tours will commence subject to the Terms and Condition, available online, or by request. There will be no tour unless there is a minimum of six adult, senior or student fare-paying passengers when Alf leaves The Hard at 2pm.
* Proof of identity for concessionary tickets is required
