About
The Kings Theatre hosts an unforgettable evening of breath-taking music and theatrical elegance for Portsmouth Pride, with a stunning concert version of Carousel. The performances will raise vital funds for both Portsmouth Pride and Elevation 1907: The Kings Theatre’s regeneration project.
Produced by The Kings Theatre, this magnificent concert version of Carousel is a celebration of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s timeless masterpiece, bringing together an incredible 25-piece orchestra led by Andrew Woodford, the Kings’ Resonate Choir, and a cast of exceptional local talent.
Carousel is a stirring story of love, longing, and redemption, set against the backdrop of a beautifully evocative score. Featuring well-known songs such as 'If I Loved You', 'You’ll Never Walk Alone', and 'June is Bustin’ Out All Over', this concert promises to sweep audiences away into a world of emotion, elegance, and spectacle.
The Kings Theatre, known for its rich heritage and magnificent architecture, provides the perfect setting for this extraordinary event. The grandeur of the venue will complement the beauty of the performance, creating a magical atmosphere that guests will not soon forget.
Both performances are a vital fundraising initiative to support Portsmouth Pride and Elevation 1907 – two important causes that reflect the spirit of inclusivity, community, and cultural preservation.
This year holds particular significance as Portsmouth Pride – a proud partner of the Kings Theatre – hosts UK Pride for the first time. The event is a milestone in the city’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and LGBTQ+ advocacy. Funds raised will continue to support Portsmouth Pride’s aim to keep Pride free and accessible for all.
Elevation 1907, The Kings Theatre regeneration project, is dedicated to the restoration and regeneration of the beloved Kings Theatre, providing better accessibility and facilities and ensuring it remains a treasured cultural hub for generations to come.
