About
Henry VIII liked a wedding, or six, so it's fitting your special day can take place in his Tudor castle.
Set against the glorious backdrop of the Solent, this is where King Henry witnessed the dramatic sinking of the Mary Rose. The magnificent approach across the drawbridge is only the start of your special experience. You can hold your special event in just one area or you can have exclusive use of the whole castle. The wedding breakfast and evening reception can both be accommodated within the superb all-year marquee. Our on-site caterer and events manager, will be attentive to your every need.
Situated on the coast with beautiful views across the solent, Southsea Castle is Portsmouth's most historical venue. With the option to host your entire celebration or just a ceremony or reception, this venue promises to make any wedding day a truly memorable and unique experience.
Encased in its original Tudor stone, The Keep is the perfect location for an intimate ceremony in a grand setting.
Exposed brick lines the room which has a capacity for up to 56 guests. Access directly out onto the Ramparts and Castle Keep roof enable an opportunity to wow your guests further, where the views across the solent to the Isle of Wight are truly breathtaking.
It is essential that your big day reflects you so they try to be as accommodating as possible whilst respecting the building’s listed status. Many couples enjoy dressing the room to fit with their unique style with chair sashes, chair covers, LED candles, bunting and flowers. However, with subtle hints of natural light and a warm historical feel, many let The Keep speak for itself.
Southsea Castle is available for private hire. All types of events, celebrations and parties will be considered so don't hesitate to get in touch. Due to the bespoke nature of such events, prices are only available on application
