Children exploring a tunnel at Fort Nelson

About

Calling all junior detectives - you're needed to solve the ‘Mystery of the Missing Money’ at Fort Nelson this February half term.

Young visitors are being asked to help investigate who stole the garrison’s wages between Saturday 11 February to Sunday 19 February.

Step back to Victorian times when Fort Nelson was a busy garrison, home to hundreds of soldiers and officers with various support staff. Once a month a large sum of money was delivered for pay-day, but this particular month the money went missing...

Join in the quest to find out who the main suspects are, work out if their alibis are true or false, and find the culprit.

Costumed characters will be on hand to help with clues, so our junior super sleuths can fill in their worksheets and solve the mystery.

Visitors will need to pre-book their free tickets online to guarantee entry as Fort Nelson has limited capacity. Book at royalarmouries.org.

Car parking costs £3 and is payable on arrival at reception.

Whilst at Fort Nelson, visitors can also explore the Royal Armouries’ national collection of artillery and historic cannon, with over 700 treasures spanning 600 years of history on display.

The fort’s spacious outdoor areas, with paths around the ramparts and spectacular viewpoints, are ideal for getting a bit of fresh air. Or you can head underground to explore the tunnels.

The museum café and shop will be open too.
