The wait is over... Friday Late returns to Aspex Portsmouth on Friday 20 June, 6pm-9pm.
On Friday Lates events Aspex open the gallery's doors after hours for an unmissable evening of art, community and connection.
Curated by godsfave and NKIRUKA, and inspired by Ebun Sodipo’s exhibition Traces of the Non-Existent, the evening will allow guests to explore what it means to live beyond borders and binaries. Through music, movement, and collective action, it will create space for connection, resistance and joy, reimagining what freedom and belonging can look like.
The evening will include:
– Live performances from Yuna and Elisa Lanica
– Club sounds and DJ sets from godsfave, Harietta, and DJ Mace
– Late-night access to current exhibitions: Traces of the Non-Existent, Come as you are, and Ripples Many Streams
– A Wiki edit-a-thon led by Women in Art, writing the histories of trailblaizing trans women and migrants in the UK
– A station for letter-writing and petitions in support of trans rights
Plus, the bar will be open all evening - perfect for making the most of a warm summer night, catching up with friends whilst enjoying art and culture, or making allies and new connections.
