About

Join Portsmouth Cathedral this summer for a series of relaxed, family-friendly Saturdays. Taking place across four summer weekends, Summer on the Southside is a celebration of community, creativity and connection.

Enjoy delicious street food from a rotating selection of independent local traders, sip something refreshing from The Dean's Tipple Bar, or visit the cathedral's resident coffee partner Nells, all set within a welcoming outdoor space on the building's south side.

Each evening features Screen on the Green – a free outdoor cinema experience showing much-loved films for all ages, from animated favourites to timeless classics. Take a blanket and cushions, settle in on the lawn, and enjoy the show.

Alongside the films there will be a pop-up busking stage with live acoustic sets and selected theatre performances from exciting touring companies. Activities are programmed with families in mind and the aim is to offer a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Entry to the site and screenings is completely free, so local residents and visitors alike are welcome to take part. Whether for a whole afternoon or just the film, there's something for everyone to enjoy at Summer on the Southside.
