Almost all our attractions are open all year round, making Portsmouth the seaside destination for all seasons. There’s also much to enjoy for young and old, with a host of family-friendly attractions that are educational and entertaining in equal measure.

You’ll find plenty of group-friendly attractions, where there could also be some discounts to be had for large parties when booking in advance.

Portsmouth's attractions also reflect the city's rich history. Take a step back in time and walk in the footsteps of kings, authors and admirals from years gone by.

You’ll also discover incredible culture along the coast, with the city’s many creatives, artists and performers showcasing their talents with locally made items for you to browse and buy.

Portsmouth is blessed with not one but two cathedrals, as well as a church that’s witnessed royal weddings. Our religious landmarks make for a great addition to any itinerary.

Or perhaps you’d prefer to explore the drama of our castles and forts? Portsmouth was once declared the most fortified city in the land, so there’s loads to explore.

Spend some time in the city’s museums and galleries for a truly enriching experience. We’ve been informally referred to as the “city of museums”, with so many packed into our relatively small area.

We also have much to enjoy for arts and crafts enthusiasts. From stalls where you can buy ready-made gifts, to workshops to learn how to make your own, we’ve got the lot.

Of course, you’ll want to treat yourself after all this exploring. Portsmouth’s breweries and distilleries are a great place to do just that, with locally made ale, gin, rum and lots more besides.

That said, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s all about the coast in Portsmouth. We also have a number of beautiful parks and gardens in which to spend a sunny afternoon. They’re also a great spot for picnics, outdoor sports and games.
