About

The University of Portsmouth offers 3-star, bed and breakfast accommodation on Southsea seafront throughout summer at Rees Hall.

Rees Hall is a period-style building that stands just 250 metres from the seafront. Constructed in 1996, it presents many similar features to the Victorian hotel that previously stood on the site. For history buffs, the building also boasts a blue plaque that commemorates the site where Charles Dickens stayed on his final visit to Portsmouth - the city of his birth.

Guests at Rees Hall can be certain of quality, with the university team having attained Hospitality Assured and Welcome to Excellence commendations. There have also been award wins on the quality of catering on offer at Rees Hall, which followed from the site being voted by readers of the Group Travel Organiser magazine as the Best UK University Accommodation.

The building is a short walk to the beach, The D-Day Story museum and the Blue Reef Aquarium. Within a fifteen minute walk is Old Portsmouth (with its quaint pubs and cobbled streets), Gunwharf Quays (offering designer outlet shopping) and the Spinnaker Tower (where you can take in 23-mile views across the city and out to sea). Just a short walk on brings you to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, where you can see HMS Victory and HMS Warrior 1860, and The Mary Rose museum - voted the city's greatest attraction on TripAdvisor.

The building has 200 single and 25 double rooms with en-suite, many of which have sea views. Additional features include two guest lounges, a bar, courtyard garden, restaurant and lifts to every floor.

The rooms are provided with fresh towels and complimentary soap and shower gel, as well as a tea and coffee making facilities.

Televisions are not provided but there is high speed WiFi available throughout the building at no extra cost.

Coach parties welcome.

Conference facilities available.
