From the front door of the old Berkeley Hotel, up the plush Victorian stairs or via the lift to the self-catering flat itself, you enter a world of elegance from times gone by.
Whilst the flat does not have a sea view, the hotel is a stone's throw from Southsea beach and promenade. South Parade Pier and Canoe Lake stretch off in one direction, with the Pyramids and Rock Gardens in the other. Newly built shops are just next door, as well as to the front and lakeside. Plus, the Tenth Hole putting green cafe and the Pier itself surround you with eateries. Much, much more is either a walk or bus journey away in Southsea centre.
Make the most of all local attractions and events throughout the year, including Southsea Kite Festival, Victorious Festival, Hovertravel to the Isle of Wight, Gunwharf Quays, the Emirates Spinnaker Tower and the many exhibits of Portsmouth Dockyard.
The newly renovated flat is for 2 adults and up to 2 children, comprising one double bedroom, kitchen and lounge with sofabed. There is a shower, toilet and basin, and the kitchen is totally self contained with full cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine. The lounge has a dining table, sofa, TV with free-to-air channels and WiFi.

Map & Directions
If you have a car you approach Southsea by one of three roads in: M275 (quickest) western motorway into the city, following the one-way system round to Southsea. A2047 down through North End and Fratton Bridge, Fawcett Road, Lawrence Road and Waverley Road down to South Parade. A2030 Eastern Parade which is the second quickest route on the east of the city.
Cars will require the daily parking vouchers for street parking which can be purchased for guests provided there's prior notice given. They are provided free to apartment guests, who will need them between 8am and 6pm. If you want a lie in, make sure to place them on your car the night before!
Taxis are efficient and reasonable priced. They can be arranged in advance from Heathrow and Gatwick airports, and are available to book on-line. The cost is £60 each way for a normal car.
Public Transport Directions
The nearest train station is Fratton (about 1 mile). The fastest trains from London depart at Waterloo. All Portsmouth-bound trains stop at Fratton before going on to Portsmouth and Southsea, and Portsmouth Harbour. There is also a direct train from Gatwick that takes about an hour.
From the Ferry Port it is best to get a taxi directly.
Buses run frequently throughout Portsmouth along the coast and to many neighbouring areas.
There are many local walking trails, plus nature reserves, the South Downs Way and the Hayling Billy Trail (located on the west of Hayling Island via the Ferry from Eastney).
There are many fishing trips or excursion boats including speedboats.
Isle of Wight is but a ferry journey or trip by hovercraft.
