About
The Rowans Hospice again hosts its unique night-time walk, starting on Castle Field at 8pm.
The 6 and 10 mile circular walks lead participants along an illuminated seafront, into the Historic Dockyard, to return via Old Portsmouth. What's more, this year there's an exciting addition - with the space for runners as well! Soak up the unique experience of seeing many of the historical landmarks of Old Portsmouth and Southsea in the moonlight on Saturday, 18 June 2022.
Moonlit Memories is a fun evening that also offers a poignant opportunity to come together and celebrate the lives of loved ones who are no longer with us. Join in as an individual or get a group of friends together and join as a team; everyone aged 11 years and above is welcome.
The evening start at 8pm on Castle Field, where you can enjoy a free hot drink whilst listening to the Big Noise Samba Band performing their samba-reggae sounds. The Zumba warm-up will then get everyone limbered up ready for their 6 or 10 mile challenge which begins at 9.30pm.
When you're on the walk there's a chance to call into Portsmouth Cathedral, which will open its doors and welcome participants in to light a candle and spend a few moments reflecting and remembering loved ones.
The route finishes back at Castle Field, where participants will receive their medals and can enjoy a complimentary bacon/vegetarian bap and a hot drink to warm up.
The Rowans Hospice’s reliance on voluntary donations remains critical in the aftermath of the pandemic, so it's calling upon the local community for help to raise vital and much-needed funds.
Everybody who participates in the Moonlit Memories Event is asked to pledge to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship, or make a one-off donation to support the charity. The hospice appreciates that for some this is a challenge. However, every £1 of sponsorship is important and all income generated through the Moonlit Memories Event will be supporting the future of local hospice care.
