RSN Tutor Helen Stevens teaches a bespoke Goldwork hand embroidery class as part of a series of classes to celebrate the Overlord Embroidery, which was made by the RSN from 1968 to 1974.
The stunning stork design will be worked in Goldwork using a variety of metallic threads, including passing, tambour thread, purl pearl and some cut work stitches. This class is suitable for those new to the technique and for more experienced stitchers.
Helen says she adapted the image of the stork from a medieval document which pays homage to the many ships of the Royal Navy that took part in Operation Neptune, which included HMS Stork.
