The Emirates America's Cup World Series returns to Portsmouth from 4 - 7 June 2020, for another full weekend of action from the best sailors in the world and the most technically advanced boats ever built.
The event is one of only two outside of New Zealand, ahead of the main Prada America's Cup events taking place in Auckland in 2021.
This round of America's Cup racing will feature three regattas, with Portsmouth being the second. It gives sailing fans the chance to glimpse the brand new AC75 high-performing foiling monohulls - the result of over 90,000 design & 50,000 construction hours (and that's just for Ineos Team UK).
The AC75s will race in the America’s Cup in 2021 and in all the preliminary events. At 75 feet long (about 23m), the AC75 isn't just fast, it's one of the most futuristic sailing boats in history.
For 2020 there will be more racing than ever before, with five international teams battling it out over four days of events. What's more, organisers have promised to put fans at the heart of the competition - with all the high-performance action taking place close to the shore.
It's not just about the four main days of action, though. Competitiors will take to the water from 31 May, to get those all-important final training sessions in - and to test the waters, quite literally - so they're ready to attack the course fully from 4 June.
The race course has been designed with a windward leeward configuration - with an upwind start to ensure a conventional match race pre-start.
As in previous iterations, there will be a host of different options available for anyone who wants to catch the racing live. In addition to a ticketed Race Village on the shores of Southsea Common, there will be a free-to-view area for those outside. Everyone catching the action from within the Race Village will see all the goings on in close up, thanks to jumbo viewing screens and live commentators. There will also be a host of America’s Cup exhibits and content to enjoy - whether you're a sailing fanatic or just dipping your toes in.
