It's half term - which means organising days out for the whole family. Fear not, though, if you're stuck for things to do with the whole clan - we've got plenty to keep you entertained in Portsmouth. Whether you're after hands-on activities, days out with a difference or just somewhere to get out of the house, let us guide you through a fun (and safe) half term.

Half term events

There are loads of great events taking place across the city, as attractions lay on activities for young and old.

The D-Day Story is hosting not one or even two, but three separate events this half term. First up on the two weekends is the Time Travellers Show, in association with Mr Dilly's World of History. Discover the impact of World War 2 on young families and put yourself in the shoes of those who lived through it, in an energetic and informative performance.

There will also be the opportunity to get crafty with the Airfix Extravaganza sessions suitable for young and old. Or, failing that, keep your eyes peeled and see if you can spot our old friend Wally, who's jumped out of the pages of his books and hidden around the museum. Spot the elusive character on the Where's Wally Spooky Museum Search and you could win a small prize.

Just across the way, the Blue Reef Aquarium is embracing Halloween with its Gills and Ghouls Week. Discover the ocean's strangest - and creepiest - inhabitants, then embark on a fun pumpkin hunt.

There are more scares to be had over at the Spinnaker Tower. Take on a spooky game of I-Spy to see what lurks beneath your feet from the View Decks some 100 metres above sea level, with Half Term at the Tower.

If, on the other hand, you'd rather stay out in the fresh air, why not get involved with the Rowans Hospice Moon and Stars Memories Walk? It's free to enter, and you can choose to walk 1.5, 3, 6 or even 9 miles. All money raised will help the Rowans keep up its excellent work.

Get out and explore - Portsmouth is Open!

Of course, you don't have to go to a city museum or attraction to enjoy half term. If you'd prefer to stay out in the open air, there are plenty of places to enjoy a seaside stroll, or spot local wildlife.
