500 Pompey Words

Portsmouth Museum's current exhibition, A Hard Choice is an absolute treasure trove of amazing and intriguing items collected by Portsmouth Museums Service over the years. A Hard Choice contains over 100 handpicked items out of the hundreds of thousands of objects in the city's collections. The exhibits include paintings and drawings, taxidermied birds and animals, furniture, glass, pottery, a mousetrap, an eel spear and a Second World War bomb!

Portsmouth Museum is looking to spark the imaginations of children across Portsmouth with their 500 Pompey Words story-writing competition. Children living in Portsmouth between the ages of 7 to 14 years and in school years 3 to 9 can enter their original story about one or more of the objects on show in A Hard Choice for their chance to win £30 in book tokens for themselves and an exciting session with a writer for their school, home education group or out-of-school group..

A Hard Choice is a free exhibition at Portsmouth Museum, which is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am - 5.30pm. Last admission is at 5pm, so be sure to explore the exhibition and the museum with plenty of time to spare, and gather loads of ideas for your 500 Pompey Words entry.
