Where to Eat and Drink

From fine dining, to fabulous fish ‘n’ chips, Portsmouth has something to tantalise all taste buds.

Portsmouth Festival of Food takes place in the summer and brings Food Festivals to Southsea, Port Solent and Gunwharf Quays showcasing top fare from farmers and food retailers around the region plus demonstrations from local restaurants. Hampshire Farmers Markets also come to the city once a month so it’s easy to take a taste of Hampshire home with you.

Southsea offers a diverse range of eateries serving food from all corners of the globe. Southsea Common has a number of allocated BBQ areas, meaning you can enjoy a taste of summer with the backdrop of the Solent. If that sounds like too much hard work then pack a picnic basket full of Hampshire goodies.

There’s nothing better than dining with a sea view on a summer’s evening. Many restaurants at Port Solent and Gunwharf Quays boast glorious terraces overlooking the marina and harbour respectively.

Two celebrity chefs have chosen Portsmouth as the location for their restaurants. Founded by renowned chef Raymond Blanc, Brasserie Blanc at Gunwharf Quays offers quality French food in a relaxed environment.  Jamie’s Italian also calls Gunwharf home, offering authentic, affordable and quality Italian food.

In Old Portsmouth traditional pubs, vibrant fish markets and quaint tea rooms line the cobbled streets. Experience the quiet life here; explore the Camber Dock and ramparts then indulge in some home cooked food at a pub overlooking the harbour. Sip wine alfresco in the summer or enjoy a coffee by a cosy fire in the colder months.
