Opera in the Park

The evening will feature popera: various performances of the world's best-loved opera, which are presented by singers from the major British Opera Companies. Favourite arias and ensembles from Puccini, Bizet, Verdi and Mozart will be performed by artists in lavish costumes of the Victorian period in the exquisite setting of Victoria Park.

The audience will have the opportunity to join the soloist in a rousing operatic chorus, so be sure to look out for that. Heather Todd from the city council's events team said “This event is always very popular and has a lovely atmosphere - the audience really get into the spirit of the event, last year some people even brought a table with a cloth and candelabra. The setting in Victoria Park - one of Portsmouth's hidden gems - provides the perfect backdrop to a magical evening of music."

Ensure you bring your blanket or foldaway chair and something to keep you warm for this evening of musical entertainment, which will commence from 7pm. Gates will be open from 6pm so feel free to come along early to get a good spot. Refreshments will be available, but please feel free to bring your own picnic to enjoy whilst listening to the music.
