Now in its 27th year, the Heavy Horse Weekend is a very popular event and is not only part of the horsemen and horsewomen's calendar, but a regular fixture on the seafront.
Held on Castle Field, Southsea on Sat 5 May- Mon 7 May 2012 it attracts approx 5,000-10,000 people per day who turn out to see the Obstacle Driving Championship (which runs on the Sunday) and the Heavy Horse Parade and scurry driving challenge which take place on Monday 7 May.
Saturday will see a K9 Kapers Fun Dog show plus a mix of craft stalls, children's rides and trade stands with some horses arriving during the day for the Sunday and Monday events.
New to the show this year there will be pony rides and donkey rides over the weekend, plus there will be a sheepdog display using geese and ducks in the arena on Sunday.
