The culture of Portsmouth is a hidden jewel of the South Coast, as the city has more to offer than most people imagine.

Live entertainment

Whether you're looking for drama, opera, dance or live music, Portsmouth is the place to be. The Kings Theatre, New Theatre Royal and the Groundlings Theatre all offer a varied programme throughout the year, or for live music Portsmouth Guildhall, the Wedgewood Rooms, the Cellars at Eastney and The Jolly Sailor are just some of the many venues.    

The Big Screen

Portsmouth was one of eight cities chosen to host a Big Screen by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG). The Big Screen in Guildhall Square shows a range of content including animations, games, photography and films.  A programme of exciting events for Guildhall Square is also planned, so why not come along and enjoy the free entertainment.  For more information have a look at www.portsmouth.gov.uk/london2012
