The Clarence is Portsmouth & Southsea's most exciting, small, luxury hotel. Opened in May 2008, The Clarence has quickly established a reputation as the area's leading boutique hotels.

This Edwardian house has been stylishly converted with each of it's 8 bedrooms being individually and professionally designed to provide the ideal blend of colour, texture and atmosphere. All our rooms feature exquisite luxury en suite bathrooms, some with Jacuzzi and bathroom televisions. In addition, each bedroom has as standard individually controlled air conditioning, a king size bed, large flat screen LCD television, work desk, WiFi and hardwire internet access and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. The Clarence is ideally situated for visits to all major tourist attractions including the famous historic dockyard and the exciting waterfront development of Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower.

Public Transport Directions

Bus numbers 5 & 6 stop very regularly along Clarendon Road - the bus route begins at The Hard Interchange, the main bus terminal in the city - this is also where you would find a taxi rank and Portsmouth Harbour train station. If you wanted to walk, this would take about 35 minutes.

Road Directions

From the M275 - go straight across the roundabout at the bottom of the flyover, take the 2nd exit (right) off of the next roundabout. Go straight across the mini roundabout and straight ahead at the next set of traffic lights. At the next traffic light (by the Cathedral) stay left, turning onto Anglesea Road (passing the Victoria Swimming Centre on your left), continue straight ahead under the railway bridge, keeping in the far left lane, at the junction, contine straight ahead onto Winston Churchill Abvenue (passing by the law courts on your left and the Ibis Hotel on your right. Continue straight ahead at the roundabout. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit (right) onto Victoria Road North. Follow Victoria Rd North all the way to the bottom as it turns into Victoria Road South. At the bottom of Victoria Road South, turn left onto Clarendon Road, then right onto Clarence Road.
