High street, designer shopping, antiques, quirky one offs... shopping in Portsmouth just gets better and better with great independent and specialist stores complementing the growing number of leading brands in the city’s three main shopping areas.

Each shopping district in Portsmouth offers something a bit different. Right on the water’s edge, Gunwharf Quays offers shopping and spectacular views across Portsmouth Harbour. Albert Road, Marmion Road and Palmerston Road are the streets to head for if you’re looking for something different. Leading brands Debenhams, John Lewis, Laura Ashley, East and Jones are joined by a fabulous range of independent shops and specialist stores, just perfect to help you dress yourself or your home.  Why not take a stroll down Marmion Road? And now a £500 million development is set to transform the city centre bringing two anchor stores and 80 new retail brands to the heart of Portsmouth for 2011. For now you can still enjoy high street shopping at Cascades and Commercial Road, a traditional street market dating back centuries and the green space of Victoria Park. You’ll find all the big names you’ll recognise and some you wouldn’t expect including hidden gems like the One-Legged Jockey, selling unique vintage clothing.
