A visit to the Royal Marines Museum is an unforgettable experience with something for everyone. Housed in a former Officers' Mess built in the 1860s, the museum overlooks beautiful landscaped gardens and enjoys a stunning seafront location.
The museum's award-winning galleries immerse you in the action-packed story of the Royal Marines and help you discover the remarkable history of the Royal Navy's own infantry from 1664 to the present day.
It is home to over 8,000 medals including all 10 Victoria Crosses awarded to the Royal Marines. Another impressive feature is the colourful display about the history of the RM Band Service, complete with plenty of music to enjoy.
The museum caters for all ages and levels of military interest through its galleries, special exhibitions, events and extensive collections of uniforms, weapons, equipment, paintings, documents and photographs that have been collected and donated over many years.
