Dockyard Apprentice

Dockyard Apprentice

During the 18th and 19th centuries Portsmouth Royal Dockyard was the greatest industrial complex in the world.

The Dockyard Apprentice tells the story of Dockyard life in 1911, the time when the great Dreadnought battleships were being constructed.

The exhibition invites the visitor to become an apprentice for the day, clocking in at the Victory Gate and learning all about the crafts and skills which once made Portsmouth Dockyard the greatest shipbuilding centre in the world.
