Portsmouth holds a wealth of eateries serving good, honest, home-cooked food. Try The Tenth Hole tea rooms in Southsea for tea and cake. Located on a miniature golf course, the beautiful flower-flanked clubhouse also serves up great breakfasts, lunches and snacks.

The Spice Island Inn in Old Portsmouth overlooks the city’s bustling harbour and across to Gunwharf Quays, the Spinnaker Tower and Historic Dockyard. Dating back to the 1700’s, this interesting pub serves great home-cooked food or is a great place to enjoy a refreshing drink out in the sunshine. Or try The Churchillian pub on top of Portsdown Hill with fantastic views across the city of Portsmouth and beyond. Featuring real ales and comforting dishes, the Churchillian is also a great place to begin or end a pleasant walk across the hill.

With more than 800 years of maritime history, Portsmouth is the perfect place to explore days gone by. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard delves into life onboard ships throughout the ages and the Royal Navy’s vibrant past. An all-inclusive ticket gives great value for money.

Southsea Castle is the very place that Henry VIII watched his flagship, the Mary Rose sink. Discover the castle’s many roles through the years right up until it was withdrawn from active service only in 1960.
