A Celebration of Steam

A Celebration of Steam

Discover more about the role that Portsmouth Royal Dockyard played during the 18th and 19th centuries when it was the greatest industrial complex in the world, drawing heavily on steam to remain at the leading edge of technology. The famous Block Mills on site were the first steam powered factory system in the world.

Costumed re-enactors will interact with the crowds and a variety of steam engines will be on display throughout the event including a number of traction engines, road locomotives, miniatures, steam boats, model railways and steam fairground attractions.
