Accessible Portsmouth

We have tried to make things a little easier for our visitors with disabilities by providing access information where possible throughout this website. We have worked with local people with a range of disabilities, to obtain this information and ensure that it is accurate and user friendly.

As well as providing easy to follow information throughout this website, you can also download a PDF brochure 'Accessible Portsmouth - Guide for Visitors with Disabilities'.

The information contained in this Guide is also available in large print, Braille and Audio Tape.

Travelling by Car

Follow the brown and white visitor signs to help you find your way around the city.

Parking for Visitors with Disabilities

Car Parks and Pay and Display Areas

Disabled badge holders can park free of charge in Portsmouth City Council owned car parks (except Isambard Brunel Multi Storey), as long as the disabled parking badge is clearly displayed.

If allocated Accessible Parking spaces are not available, it is possible to park free of charge in other spaces, as long as the badge is still correctly displayed.

The same rule applies to on-street parking - as long as the badge is correctly displayed, parking is free of charge.

Please note: not all car parks in the city are owned by Portsmouth City Council, and therefore parking charges may apply i.e. Gunwharf Quays.

Remember to look for the 'Park Mark' sign, for safer parking.

Residents Parking Areas

Blue badge holders may park without restriction in these areas.

Where you must NOT Park!

To maintain access for delivery vehicles and emergency services, it is necessary to control parking by Blue Badge holders in certain roads, mainly in the vicinity of shopping centres. This is shown by the standard kerb markings, which indicate controls on loading and unloading.
